Today Nintendo announced a brand new Kirby platformer in development for Wii by the folk at HAL Laboratories. First footage awaits...
The pink puffball's current Wii adventure, Kirby's Epic Yarn isn't even out in Europe yet, with a February launch on the cards, but Nintendo has confirmed plans for a more traditional style side-scrolling platformer for fans to dribble over.
Despite solid reviews, including a gold rating of 36/40 in Japanese magazine Famitsu, it looks like Kirby is returning to a more tried and teseed approach in his new game, which appears to be the old Hoshi no Kirby title that originated on the GameCube and appeared on Japanese Wii lists for several years before GoodFeel's Fluff's Epic Yarn was transformed into a Kirby outing and people presumed Kirby's Adventure was no more.
You will suck up enemies, gain powers and wield enormous weapons through lush, adorable environments held together through an explosion of colourful Kirby charm - and it all looks to be Kirby at its best, back to basics. The best thing? Well, Nintendo of Japan announced that this Wii platformer will hit in 2011! Where is the new Kirby game for Nintendo DS, though, that was revealed late last year? All things were quiet on the Nintendo DS front at the retailer meeting in Japan.
