Nintendo Publishing Dragon Quest VI on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Whilst this news will be old hat to some, it is still a major revelation indeed. Following the impressive success story of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies in the US and Europe, thanks to Nintendo's publishing and advertising power, Nintendo of America has now confirmed that the third in the trio of DS Dragon Quest remakes, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation (formerly Realms of Reverie), will be landing on US soil this Valentine's Day, 14th February, 2011. Since its release in Japan in January 2010, the game has sold nearly 1.4 million units.

The game has so far been unavailable outside of Japan after originally appearing on the SNES, and combines classic role-playing adventuring with new character options and enhancements, with the release offering hours of imaginative fun spanning several unique game worlds that can be enjoyed on the go.

DRAGON QUEST VI: Realms of Revelation features a rich storyline that leads players through a multitude of captivating worlds as they gather allies and battle fierce monsters on a quest to defeat evil forces. With updated graphics and more than 15 character classes to choose from, new and experienced players alike can dive headlong into the timeless role-playing excitement of the DRAGON QUEST franchise anytime, anywhere. They can even enjoy special features such as switching between character classes and letting monsters, such as Slimes, join their party.

"Millions of players around the world have discovered the timeless fun of DRAGON QUEST. The arrival of DRAGON QUEST VI: Realms of Revelation in North America will give fans unique access to a classic game in the series for the first time, offering new ways to explore and enjoy the DRAGON QUEST universe."
- Marc Franklin, Nintendo of America's Director of Public Relations.

It has been a long wait for loyal fans, with the Super Famicom game hitting Japan back in 1995. This DS remake, from developer Artepiazza (makers of Opoona and the other DS Dragon Quest remakes), challenges players to explore multiple worlds as they confront the many problems caused by the evil Murdaw. Players can choose from nine starting classes and unlock others as they progress through the game.

More information can be found on the official DRAGON QUEST VI: Realms of Revelation website.

I'll be waiting to see if a European release date gets announced. i hope so. Otherwise I'll just import a US copy. But either way, I'm glad we finally get at least an English translation =).
