Capcom posted their financial earnings report earlier this week, with Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles noted as a failed release.
The report (via IndustryGamers) confirms that for the fiscal period ending March 31st 2010, net sales were down for the same period in 2009, from ¥91.8 billion to ¥66.8 billion. It's the lowest net sales the company has seen since 2005.
Whilst still decent sales figures for the period, Capcom felt the drop was mainly due to the delay of big Xbox 360/PS3 games Super Street Fighter IV and Lost Planet 2, as well as failed releases like the gorgeous Wii on-rails exclusive, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
That said, fellow Wii title Monster Hunter Tri was Capcom's second highest seller for the period, topping 1.1 million units.
Capcom intend on pushing their franchises more beyond the gaming sphere, including film, television and other merchandising, and dabbling in more Japanese-centric franchises like Monster Hunter and Sengoku Basara.
