Nintendo To Announce 3DS Launch Details In September on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo have been having a great time with their new system, 3DS, lapping up plaudits wherever they take it. Now it seems that they are ready for the next phase of their plan: Nintendo 3DS' launch details will be announced in a matter of weeks, on or around September 29th 2010.

Speaking to Bloomberg Japan, Nintendo representative Yasushi Hiroshi Minagawa confirmed that we will soon learn the details of 3DS' price and launch dates. All that has previously been revealed is that it will be released worldwide during the current fiscal year, which gives Nintendo any time up until April 2011 to bring forth their 3D revolution. The information will finally be revealed two weeks after the Tokyo Game Show closes its doors on the 29th September.

Cubed3 staff recently had the 3DS' magic shot directly into their eyes at Nintendo's UK post-E3 tour, which took place this week. Prepare for an onslaught of hands-on news about the dazzling new system, as well as how 2010's DS and Wii line-up is looking.

Thanks to VG247 for the news, and to Squidboy for the tip.

What would be your ideal launch price and date?

Smilie why dont you just go to TGS big N? geez they just dont want to go every year and hold they own

Nintendo will make the Japanese gaming press ravenous for news by not divulging anything until well after TGS. It's great for the hype machine there.

I'm predicting a December 12th launch in Japan, alongside Kid Icarus: Uprising, Nintendogs +Cats, Starfox 64 3D & Ocarina 3D.

I'm looking forward to more coverage in the coming months.

3DS Code 2578-3122-0744

They've announced when they're going to announce the launch date? Smilie

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

C'mon Nintendo, just put us out of our miseries and announce a late date of March 2011 for Europe. Smilie

Well, I got plenty of DS games to get though, I can wait.

I still hope they bundle a gps receiver on the device though. With camera, gyroscopes and even the bark-mode thing, whats really missing is geolocation.

I'm predicting a £180 price tag. With the VAT rise next January, I wouldn't even be sursprised to see it at £199. Smilie

Yep, I can see its price being higher than a Wii.

It will probably be released until next year to get as much DS stock out there as possible and have enough time for 3DS stock to be there as well.

Making an announcement about when they're going to make an announcement. Hmmmmmmmmm.... Smilie

I'm split on when its going to come out tbh. If they bring it out after 2019 then they miss all the crimbo sales.... but if they bring it out before xmas its quids in. In america I can see this releasing before Thanksgiving at least....

2019 this would be ancient tech. I mean, its not even built into a pair of ar specs, let alone side-eye-projectors or contacts.

Paralax barrier screens were such the rage back in the mid 2010's, but as soon as lightweight, slick total immersion ar specs came out, they looked primative pretty quickly. I mean, honestly...who wants to -hold- their screen? thats just crazy!
