Ocarina of Time 3DS Remake - First Footage

Ocarina of Time 3DS Remake - First Footage on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Spoken about briefly by many journalists that attended E3, the footage for the Hero of Time's return echoes that of the officially released scans of the game; a recreated intro sequence of Link riding Epona through Hyrule field.

The viewing angle isn't perfect, and the picture does look a little distorted due to the 3D effect going on (about 1 minute 10 seconds in), but two things can be gleamed from the video; that both the framerate and visual quality has been heightened to match Link's recent adventures over that of the old N64 games. Be sure to take a look;

Still think this is one of the more boring 3DS games announced, basically a mario64DS that will hopefully be superseded by a proper 3DS Zelda later.

I would love to relive OoT with better graphics and a few more features added. I'm all for the two N64 remakes on the 3DS. We will see an original 3D Zelda on the 3DS in the later days of the console. I actually think this is looking pretty cool, would be nice to see some actual gameplay footage, maybe a boss fight?

Never played more than an hour of the original OoT so this would be good for me...though now I'm a student I doubt I'll be able to afford a 3DS, I recently dug out my GBA and started playing through games I'm yet to complete on that (FireEmblem!!!)

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

This is awesome stuff, OOT being my fav game of all time on a handheld... and in 3D! terrific!!

I want a new toon link game Smilie on 3DS i hope it not the end of that style

Im kinda worried that the 3DS will become a true 'port able as Nintendos already stated theyre trawling through the back catalogue for games to bring to 3D,so Majoras Mask will probably be next, and if we see Toon Link again probably be in a wind waker. Be interesting to see if we get gamecube ports

well my fav zelda is Majoras Mask but i hope they would still make a new toon link game

I bloody hope they give Toon Link a rest, personally. Make a new Link for the new 3DS game. Port Majora's Mask too, because it's my favourite game of all time. Having it handheld would be utterly glorious.

I never understand why people want X link or Y link.

Surely new gameplay? new ideas? is more important :?

There's no reason that both can't be done.

Changing the appearance of the character (not to mention one who used to change his appearance with every title, but now almost never changes) doesn't take much creative effort at all. It's a completely different level of problem to plot or gameplay.

I don't mind certain ports as long as we get new stuff too.

Majora's Mask would be brilliant for 3DS - hopefully us UK peeps can then play the true version with no problems (N64 was 50Hz, Collector's Edition was prone to freezing).

Toon Link I do agree needs a rest. If there's a Link style I want to see brought back, it would be the LttP Link (or Oracles - kinda similar). But in a 3D game.

It's a shame Link's not really changed much in recent years now. His adult appearances are pretty much the same - OoT, TP and now Skyward Sword are all too similar. And his young appearances are always Toon Link who looks identical since his WW introduction. It would make more sense canonically to have Links from different time periods to look less like eachother.

That being said, I would love another Toon Link game with the level of graphics of WW - if not, better.

Anyway, as for OoT3D, I'm not too hyped for it at this moment in time. We can't see any gameplay yet anyway. As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, if they packed in Master Quest then that would really please me. Needs more extras than that though because I've played it all before so many times. But I'll definitely keep an eye on this.

Forgot about Majoras mask :/

Going to be another Super Mario Advance thing that happened on the GBA, guess i'll just forget about interesting handheld Zelda games for a while.

You can't know that. There are multiple teams working on the Zelda series, the main team are working on Skyward Sword with the help of a few chaps from Flagship (as well as the main director), I guess that's Aonuma's team. There's also the team led by Aonuma's apprentice, and they're not doing much after Spirit Tracks was finished.

The good thing about a remake is that it can be done alongside many other projects without much manpower, since they still have the source material to work from.

Gen 6 was the age of Mario spin offs, lots of porting and party games, there wasn't really an excuse for that.

PS. I've been waiting for a new truly interesting/great handheld Zelda since Minish Cap anyway.

Whahu?
But demanding Toon link or not-Toon link is NOT changing the appearance, its just reusing a existing one.

Plus, Link does change his appearance. The new Wii Zelda is different to TWW and TP. TP was also pretty different to Ocarina in look, it wasn't mearly more detailed.
Minish Cap was quite different also to other 2D variations.

A few hair-color issues aside, they aren't supposed to be that different in features, merely art styles.
If you want completely different characters each time, you might as well ask for Link to be a Goron. It wouldn't fit, imho.

The GBA both has a good remake (+Four Swords) and its own, excellent, original Zelda game. I dont see why the 3ds cant be the same.

Yeah but it had no new Mario game, thats what i'm getting at. Had to wait until the DS for New Super Mario Bros.

PS I very much enjoyed the DS Zelda games, not as good as a true 2D title from flagship but more interesting that what were getting here.
Just have to wait and see I guess.

Yes, I want Toon Link to be given a rest and for a new Link to be used, for the first time in years.

Plus, Link does change his appearance. The new Wii Zelda is different to TWW and TP. TP was also pretty different to Ocarina in look, it wasn't mearly more detailed.

I agree that TP Link is different to OoT Link, but I think that asides from the art style, TP and SS Link are virtually identical. I'd like more variation than that, he used to have far more variation, but now all these completely different people look so damn identical that it's boring.

Minish Cap was quite different also to other 2D variations.

Barely, he was Toon Link.

Since when did I ever ask for that? I just want different people to look like they're different people.

Both DS Zelda titles were quite shallow compared to even the 2D Zeldas so I don't think they took too long to make and probably also had small teams working on them. I would love to see a brand new Zelda for the 3DS but a full project similar to Ocarina of Time may not happen due to the amount of man-power needed. Though after Skyward Sword, I guess they could spare more people to work on one and they could always just use the Ocarina engine to build the next game. Smilie

Holy shit, look at the framerate!
The pictures did not do this justice. That looks pretty good. I'm even more excited, now Smilie

Looks pretty smooth, hopefully we'll get to see some direct gameplay footage soon.
