Following the initial revelation of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem (Shin Monshou no Nazo - Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu) a few days ago, Nintendo has now unveiled more details. The game is a remake of a Japanese-only SNES entry into the popular Strategy RPG series from developer Nintendo-owned developer Intelligent Systems and will launch in Japan as early as 15th July, 2010. The game centres once more on Marth, the Altean Prince, with him needing to rescue his sister and win his kingdom back. Thanks to the addition of the 'My Unit' system, though, new elements will be added that did not feature in the original. Players will be able to create a custom character, who becomes the 'Hero (or Heroine) of Shadow' and will have their own prologue story, as well as side missions and new maps, after joining Marth's personal guard.
There will be four difficulty levels included, with 'Normal,' 'Hard,' 'Maniac,' and 'Lunatic,' each of which can be chosen when starting a New Game, or people new to the series can even choose a 'Casual Mode' where members of your fighting force regenerate at the end of a mission, rather than dying forever as they normally would in the 'Classic Mode.' There is an in-game plot guide and character encyclopedia for those wanting to learn more about the game's in-depth storyline, as well as the return of the Wi-Fi Shop where rare items can be bought using the game's currency.
