Capcom's beloved white wolf is making its way to the DS, but the original idea for Okamiden started off as a fan project.
Instead of being ordered to whip together a project, the sequel to Clover's Okami started off as a fan project by a group of fans from within Capcom, according to Siliconera. The group worked on a demo version outside of their main roles and eagerly pitched their ideas to Ace Attorney Investigations producer Motohide Eshiro.

After which the project was accepted and development begun, the DS chosen due to it being the most successful platform at the time and the touch screen suitable for brushing antics.
