Nintendo DS Helps Kids To Draw on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Another intuitive use has been found for the DS - Helping kids learn to draw. Many children struggle to imagine objects and draw them from memory and drawing doesn't come naturally. Lets Draw! is set to change all that by providing drawing lessons through the DS.

Lets Draw! is based around the theory of breaking down images into smaller, familiar objects (such as circles and rectangles) that helps children to memorise how to draw the whole. However, the best bit though, whatever is drawn magically comes to life right before their very eyes!

In game there will be 118 lessons which are divided into 12 categories such as fruit, food and creatures. Lessons themselves are audio voiced in a step-by-step fashion and there is a pallet of 12 colours to fill in the images. There is also a Mini-Games section which allow children to draw the objects that appear in games such as drawing a race car and three opponents - very intuitive stuff.

Should there be more learning based titles for children on the DS? And what do you think to this type of learning?

I went in to the local EBGames store (Canada) and the staff had never heard of this game. A quick check on their computer brought up nothing.

Wikipedia does not list it either. Is it a Europe only release?

Look unto me in every thought. Doubt not. Fear not.
