Genterprise has confirmed a second Wizardry game is coming to the Nintendo DS in Japan. Whilst the release last year, Wizardry: The Wedge of Life, was praised for its impressive visuals and intriguing gameplay, Japanese DS owners could only buy the title via online retailer Amazon in that country. However, rather than stunting sales, clearly it would appear Genterprise saved on costs and turned enough of a tidy profit to warrant releasing a sequel in 2010...again only through Amazon.
Wizardry: The Legacy of Oblivion was revealed in Famitsu magazine recently and is yet another 3D RPG set in dark, dank dungeons, with the game set for release on 29th July. Given how popular the Wizardry brand has remained over the past three decades, it is surprising the first game has not been picked up for the West. However, perhaps that will change if The Legacy of Oblivion also proves to be a roaring online success, with its new monster and dungeon types and numerous promised improvements over its predecessor (including revamped menus and an auto-walk feature).
Do you still follow Wizardry and would you like to see these DS games head to the West?
