Nintendo surprised this week by announcing the tentatively named "3DS" and has now confirmed it will be playable at E3 2010.
The successor to the Nintendo DS, will expand the dual screen family by ramping up the graphics, sound etc and introducing 3D games without the need to wear glasses.
Ken Toyoda, chief spokesman at Nintendo, has confirmed that press-goers at this year's event will be able to get their mitts on the device and sample the 3D effect firsthand. E3 2010 will presumably also be the first time the public would be able to see prototype 3DS hardware in the wild.
We wanted to give the gaming industry a head’s up about what to expect from Nintendo at E3. We’ll invite people to play with the new device then.
