SEGA Clear up Sonic 4 Running Animation on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

When Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was announced earlier this week many fans commented on his running animation - SEGA has since explained.

In the very short snippet, many found Sonic's animation a little skeewiff, not quite as smooth as past outings. Whilst it's not a life-threatening issue by any means, SEGA has addressed concerns from hardcore fans in that it's not his fastest running speed and there's plenty more to see in the future.

Today we have some good news to bring you guys in regard to Sonic's running animation in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I! Specifically, we wanted to cover a topic that many of you have asked about after seeing the trailer. Q: Is the running animation in the trailer what Sonic's fastest running animation will look like in Sonic the Hedgehog 4? It looks kind of slow, don't you think?

A: Actually, it is not his fastest speed! There is a faster animation for Sonic's running that was not shown in the trailer, and is more akin to what you might be familiar seeing from Sonic 3 & Knuckles or Sonic CD. So there you have it! We'll get to show you guys firsthand what that running animation looks like in the future - but until then, rest assured that there's a lot more to the game than what you saw in the trailer: running animations included.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 WiiWare will be available to download later this year. Also available on XBLA, PSN and a mystery platform.

That is very good to hear. The running motion in the trailer just wasn't very Sonic like at all.

There you have it jump. There's his walking speed.

It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

...and a mystery platform...

Hmm, launch game for the iPad in April, perhaps?

Well, there isnt exactly much left as regards to digital distribution is there?
Unless its Steam, its going to be an appstore.
And (unfortuntely, imho) that means Apple's one.

And his walking speed is pretty damn fast, meaning that even though the game doesn't have boost mode, we'll still be pegging it along at an impressive speed.

Unlike the slowfests that are Sonic Advance and Sonic Rivals.

I thought that Sonic Advance was rather fast compared to the other Sonics on hand held. Sonic Advance 2 was the fastest out of the series.

Mystery Platform = SEGA Zone or Zone Sega, whatever they are calling it!

That's not a console really, it's just one of those half-assed plug in and play thing with lots of inbuilt MegaDrive games and a few shitty Arcade games noone has ever heard of.

It's not even SEGA developed, and the Sonic art on the box is fanart by a DeviantART guy called Envy... So yeah, SEGA Zone is fail.

The fourth platform is almost definitely the iPhone.

Well that transitional run animation is still poor LOL. Sounds picky but I dont want to see that animatio even for 5secs. Looks like a new born deer learning to walk for the first time

I think zone sega is the fourth console, i have this proof to support it.

-On the ps3 an Wii versions of sonic 4 it says it's going to use motion controls, zone sega is a wii clone

-on the box pictures released of Zone sega it only shows 19 of the 20 games made by sega and there's no list anywhere of all the games.
