Adding a music player and DVD playback to the Wii would take nothing more than a simple upgrade, and would be free. Wii games are put on DVD discs, so it's not like they need to add an upgraded laser. And if it can read DVDs, it can read CDs. Think about it; it can already play music with photo channel, it jsut only does one song at a time. And DVD playback being a simple upgrade away was revealed when hackers figured out how to do it with Homebrew Channel (but it was incredibly buggy and won't run the system fan during playback.) It would cost absolutely nothing to add these features. Hell, I'm pretty sure I was promised a dongle for DVD playback before the system came out, and THAT hasn't even happened. That all aside, having higher definition games could allow for more third parties to develop for the Wii and not just the other two systems. I'd love to play Fallout and Call of Duty etc. without buying an Xbox.
I agree there. It's all about seeing the big picture. Stuff gets integrated all the time. Actually being able to play DVD's and CD's would only appeal to their beloved casual gamer market even more! Think about it:
Not only would the wii be able to help with:
> Exercise
> Weigh in on my progress with exercise
> Bringing the family together
> Bring my friends together
Adding in with the perks
> Netflix (new)
> Downloadable content
> Check the weather and news
> Upload photo album and slide shows
But now I can watch DVD's and listen to my favorite music. This really shouldn't cost Nintendo anything. Looking back at this list Satsubastsu 347, you did buy a swiss army console it just doesn't have as much knives as the rest of the consoles. And if you even added HD you'd be a FOOL not to buy this console. It would make developers happy and it would still be the cheapest of the three. That's already hard to pass down now, but think about the revenue you could open up by adding just a little smidget of this. Shit man, the PS2 could play DVD's there's no excuse for Nintendo now.
