SEGA Talks Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Jun Tokuhara, director of the latest Super Monkey Ball for Wii, recently posted a developer diary on all things simian and balance.

Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll is the latest installment in the series, combining traditional Monkey Ball mechanics with the Wii Balance Board for a new way of moving the critters about.

Tokuhara details some of the 20 different minigames available that compliment the main game - including skydiving, sumo wrestling and firefighter and how controls had been kept simple to stop things from becoming far to complicated.

Those wanting a fair workout can compete in a marathon or half marathon of courses, also playable with the Wii Remote. Those who find it hard to balance, and shift to the other side quite a lot can use "Mirror Image Mode", where the entire course is flipped to compensate for differences in balance.

More details over at The Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll development diary.

Hmm...
Mini games will probably be decent, not so sure about the main quest though.
Unfortunately, the 1st Super Monkey Ball game was awesome, the 2nd one was good and it's been going downhill ever since. Smilie

Actually the minigames from Banana Blitz were the worst things about it. The single player really wasn't bad, and the music was awesome.

The mini-games in this already look far better and less broken than before. If the single player is better than BB's I'll be more than happy!

And if there's more original/awesome music then I will love the game even more.

I wonder if it will come with a Wii Board package? I hope they do because I do not want to have to buy one seperately.

It won't, and I'm not buying one. I'll use the Wiimote thanks.

i am looking forward to this game so much. i hope the single player levels are like the first game as in they take skill not luck to complete. I hope the multiplayer mode is more like monkey ball 2 than banana blitz, imo they should concentrate on quality rather than quantity

Flapper!
