Nintendo: Free NES, SNES, N64 Games on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo has put together the details for the new Wii Connection Ambassador Promotion launching today.

As a reward for loyal fans that help friends connect up to the net on their Wiis, Nintendo will be giving out 500 free points to you, and your friend, every time a new Wii connects up for the first time for a maximum 10,000 Wii Points.

If you connect up 10 people, you'll meet Gold status and be able to download all Nintendo-published NES games for free on the Virtual Console. Those who go the extra mile, connecting up 20 people will earn Platinum and be able to download all NES, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 games for free!

How do I become a Connection Ambassador?

  • Enter the Wii Shop Channel
  • There is an icon on the Wii Shop Channel entitled 'Connection Ambassador Promotion'
  • Click on the icon and you will be prompted by two icons. One showing that you are the Connection Ambassador or (the Helper) and the other icon showing that you are the 'Person Who Was Helped'
  • Click on the Connection Ambassador icon
  • You will be prompted to enter the Wii number of the person you have helped.
  • You must do this within 30 days of when the person you have helped, has registered their connectivity using your Wii number.
  • Once both parties have registered, you will have received 500 Wii Points on your Wii Shop Channel accounts to spend in the Wii Shop Channel
  • Will you be taking part in the program? Do you think the offer is worth it?

So if you have them registered, you must do it within 30 days basically.

I haven't registered anyone for years Smilie

Damn, all the people I got online (all three of them) have all been online for a while now Smilie

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

Woohoo, I'm getting a Wii soon. OK, anyone who wants to register me send me as much stars as you can and I'll see who wins.

Hm I'm trying to think of people I know but who aren't online yet. I can only think of 1 guy. The problem is, he's been online on my WiFi once (to download Sim City SNES), since then he's been offline again. I guess that won't work? Smilie

I think people who haven't gone online should prostitute themselves for stars...just as Bart has done.

I would love these things but I can honestly say I have NEVER connected a friend to Wii's online services. I feel like a Nintendo failure. Smilie

I've connected 5 people in the past year and a half... and I can only think of 1 other person that hasn't been online. Still I should clarify that I'm in Mexico, so we're still waiting for this to reach the Americas.

I'm gonna connect my girlfriend's Wii. But she's the only one i know that's not online :-/. Oh well. I got mega man 2 today for 'free' because I downloaded the internet channel for 500 points (which i got from my nintendo stars anyway.

Great I connected like 10 people last year alone. SmilieSmilieSmilieSmilie

I would get a few of my mates to connect up but I can't go on the shop channel anymore anyway because that would require me to update the wii. Ah well I'll have to give this a miss.

Well that's a little over board, to offer free games just to get people on their systems. But why not Sony makes even bigger busts by making all thous packaged deals on PSP, although it doesn't help much. I think Nintendo really needs to think more about what people want and not say. "hey we're giving away free games if you get people to go online." i just think that shows that they are desperate and just knows that their service is bad, although again i see nothing wrong with it because it does protect little kids from weird people.

If only this program would come to the US...

EDIT: Maybe this will be the surprise the Nintendo exec was talking about...

This is more about getting people to use their Wii for services like the Forecast and News Channels and most importantly, the Wii Shop Channel. That is why even the person who gets connected gets 500 points.

I don't know many people who would say that the Wii Shop Channel is a bad online service...

Lets face it people, unless you know 10/20 people who needs help with there connection, its not worth doing it! besides, someone will hack this system anyways soon or later!
