Date & Boxart Revealed for Mario & Sonic 2 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Sega and Nintendo's mascots now have a European release date set for their second Olympics outing together, just in time for the Winter Months.

The promotional poster below shows the final boxart for both Wii and DS versions of the game, and they will be hitting the stands together on October 16th 2009.

Looking at this one reconfirms two things. One, that Balance Board support is included; excellent for those Snow Sliding events. And more intriguingly, the presence of the Nintendo Wifi Connection logo, which brings up the question of whether there'll just be leaderboards like the original, or whether gamers will be able to play against each other online.

Hmm, I wonder if the online stuff will be significant or if it'll be like in Wii Sports Resort where it merely hooks up to the Mii Channel to import popular Mii characters into the game...

Why does Sonic get the cool snowboard? Isn't skiing faster than boarding? And Mario is more agile than Sonic, which would be a better fit for a snowboard. In my amateur opinion. Smilie

I gasped when I saw the WiFi Connection symbol, but the first game had that symbol too.... Probably just leaderboards again... =_=

Like the look of the cover, looks pretty awesome. Hopefully the game will have proper wifi but I ain't expecting it.

I wonder if the Jamaican bobsledding team is un-lockable?

Oh, and the box art is cool I guess. I like the humanoid thingy at the top.

Cause snowboarding is 'cooler'. And everyone knows how cool Sonic is Smilie

Yeah the box Art is good...could have included other characters from their separate franchises, but this is good.

Sega do all the ground work, but Miyamoto keeps an eye on things. Worked well for the first game, but this one really needs online play.

...just in time for the Winter Months.

Can't be coincidence!

The first game was fun with buddies playing. And let's face it: I think the best Olympic game ever. There was a lot of rubbish in past olympic years. It's not platinum game, but at least very good. I look forward to the content in this one!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
