Wheeyy.

Bet Squeenix don't regret putting a mainseries title on the DS now huh? How about making FFXV or KHIII on Wii? Smilie

Apparently this just pips DQVIII's start and could technically be a faster seller than FFVIII since the only data for that is over four days, not two.

Dragon Quest doesn't seem as popular in the west as it is in Japan. I wonder how the game will do here (both critically and commercially).

I'm not gonna import, but there's a good chance I'll buy a copy when the game comes out Stateside. I really liked DQ8, but felt the overall experience and style of gameplay - particularly the simplistic battle system - would be better suited for a handheld. Between all of the usual DQ goodness (Akira Toriyama art, Koichi Sugiyama soundtrack, etc.) and the new addition of quests to make the games less linear, I'll be very interested to get DQ9 to fulfill my portable RPG itch... whenever it comes out, that is.

DQX was confirmed for the Wii

Wow dont remember that wii announcement. When that comes out that will shift consoles. They will probably do a wii special console edition to go with that. Nintendo have been very lucky to secure monster hunter and DQ on their consoles.

Surely Monster hunter on the DS is the next step forward.

I think the Dev's will see it as a step backwards and make it for the DS 2 or something.

Those are great sales, and for some reason I don't think there'll be a mainseries Final Fantasy on the Wii, KHIII on the otherhand could very well be on the Wii, then they could release KH1 and 2 as a compilation disc alongside it.

These are the same devs (Capcom) that just ported a remake of a game that was first released in 96? Not only ported it but kept in tack the digital movement and pre rendered backdrops. I dont think they could go backwards

to bad it never do that well over here Smilie

Some games dont sell 2mil across the globe. It doesnt need to sell that much in each region. It will probably shift 3mil in japan in its life time.

Cant wait to see what kind of crazy numbers the wii version sells and what it does for the console. Same for monster hunter.

I remember nintendo saying they wanted to give Dragon Quest a big push outside of Japan.

The want to make it a far more recognised or somthing along those lines

Wikipedia:

Upon the initial announcement of the game, Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata compared the Dragon Quest series to the Brain Age series, which was also seen as unmarketable in the West, and declared that he would like to work closely with Square Enix to raise the series\' international appeal.[4]

I\'m guessing Nintendo probably has promised big advertising budget for Square.

I thought that was simply for Dragon Quest X on Wii...But I'd love to be proven wrong and see Nintendo help push DQIX on DS hard in the US and PAL territories!
