Balance Board for Super Monkey Ball? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A recently filed trademark strongly suggests that some form of balance-board-compatible-Monkey Ball game is on the way.

In a trademark application, Sega has listed the title as "SUPER MONKEY BALL STEP & ROLL", which currently lacks a platform/description.

With the DS entry dubbed "Touch & Roll" it's highly likely that those adorable simians and their balls will be returning to the Wii, or possibly an odd arcade/DDR/Monkey Fest - this is SEGA afterall.

Do you think SEGA will be bringing a Balance Board driven Monkey Ball to the Wii?

Definitely should be a reality - I'm surprised it hasn't already happened, along with WarioWare: Balanced.

Even without a Balance Board of my own (as I'm sure there'd just be a Wiimote-only mode) I'm looking forward to this. Loved Banana Blitz. Smilie

Not sure this is a good move. Having played the balance games on wii fit its just not as fast or accurate as using either analogue sticks or the remote. The courses would inevitably have to be wider.

Just been playing some of the modes in Wii Fit Plus today and I can safely say the board IS very responsive indeed. It surely must come down to calibration by the actual developer...or user error Smilie Smilie

Interesting - I just ordered Bannana Blitz today! I know it has some control issues but for a tenner, I'll put up with them. Smilie

It could be a must-have, if they don't mysteriously mess it up.

I assume they would also include Wiimote, maybe wm+ control.

Huge Monkey Ball fan here!! I don\'t have a Balance Board, and it\'s highly likely that it would be optional for this (playing through the whole game on it could be insanely tedious) but I\'d be more tempted to get a Balance Board just to test it out!

This sounds a perfect fit...but then, so did the Wiimote, and I was hugely unimpressed by that last monkey ball game.
Korapina did a much better job with it, imho.
