As a competitor to Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Ubisoft have announced a new open-world action game on Nintendo DS - C.O.P.: The Recruit. You take on the role of Dan Miles, an undercover cop who, in a shocking twist, isn't afraid to bend the law as he tries to find out why his partner has been falsely arrested as they investigate terrorism in the city.
The gameplay looks like a mix of GTA and Driver; you're not restricted to doing just doing one thing and can be bombing around the city in your car one minute, shooting down gangs the next. You also have police tactics at your disposal, such as SWAT teams and road blockades, though you'll have to earn the trust of criminals by carrying out nefarious acts, too.
C.O.P. is boasting a 20 hour game with full 3D open-world gameplay, the ability to go inside buildings, and a 6 square mile map without loading times, all running at 60 frames per second. We don't have to wait too long to see how well it manages all this - it's out in October. Here's the trailer until then.
Could this be a Chinatown Wars beater already?
