GoldenEye Creator Wants Game on VC on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Martin Hollis has revealed he would still like to see the classic GoldenEye 007 appear on Virtual Console, despite chances of it happening any time soon remain slim-to-none. He said that unfortunately the complexity of legal rights that have caused complications in the past are not likely to be sorted out soon, if at all.

He went on to say, "There's always someone with some exclusivity agreement, so there's lots of lawyers...I'm not going to hold my breath. I'd love it to happen, but I can't see it."

More details can be found in the latest issue of the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine, which is on sale now.

I still have my N64 and the game, so i don\'t care too much ^^.

Besides the gameplay was designed to take advantage of the N64 controller, and that\'s the only way the game can be played properly, except maybe for a Wiimote+nunchuk solution, but which would never happen on Virtual Console.

Classic Controller should be just fine.
Or a Gamecube controller.

I dont think the 3-prongs are strictly nesscery for enjoyment.

Why can't we all just get along?

I hope my N64 lives a long life.

i was talking about the C buttons for straffing and looking upwards or downwards, Z button underneath to act as a trigger,

OK so imagine the weapon change button is A on the classic controller, then B is for opening doors and recharing. This leaves X & Y for ... what ? huh oh... you've got a problem cause this leaves straffing left and right and looking up & down for only two buttons.

Trust me, i've tried setting up a PS2-like PC controller to play Goldeneye through emulation, to experience it "upscaled" by the emulator, i just couldn't come up with a single button layout that worked as good as the original n64 controller did with this kind of game.

Maybe you could just set it so the second analogue stick/c stick on the GC controller would be the strafing/looking up/down, or they could just re-map the controlls entirely to fit the controllers.

I doubt it will happen though, I think there may be more chance of Tasunoko vs capcom being localised in the West sometimes, oh well, at least I still have my N64 and Goldeneye.
