Up until recently, Square Enix had the accolade of highest selling Third Party game on Wii in Japan thanks to a TV-to-Wii upgrade. Konami is set to attempt to follow the lead of Dragon Quest Swords (which was preceded by Kenshin Dragon Quest, a TV-based entry into the RPG series) by bringing its very own TV-motion-input title to Nintendo's motion-controlled home console. A conversion of last year's popular plug-and-play storybook, re-titled 'Tele Shibai Wii', which roughly translates as 'TV Performance Wii', is set to hit Japanese stores on 30th July.
The 'game' allows parents to read out stories, changing their voices for different characters using a bundled microphone. So rather than being an actual game, Tele Shibai Wii is pretty much an interactive story book. As for what happens when the initial set of stories are completed, Konami has had the smart idea of setting up a Wii Pay and Play scenario, whereby parents can download new content at a later stage for some Nintendo Points.
No doubt if this proves to be a big hit in Japan it will not be long before it infiltrates Western homes...
