Nintendo of Canada Leaves Mysterious Hint

Nintendo of Canada's press emails has contained an interesting hint about an apperance of a loved classic franchise.

According to GoNintendo, the email reads: "The legacy began..." followed by the an interesting image:

Could this be an unannounced remake/continuation of a classic be on the way? Or is it the return of an already known title like Punch Out!! Wii?

It's most definitely a game we already know about. Of course Nintendo don't know about the internet so they think it's impossible that we'd be aware of games announced for Japan.

Just like they thought "Hey it doesn't matter if Europe waits for Smash Bros, it's not like they know it's out anywhere else right?"

Probably one of the bigger names - Punch Out!!, Pilotwings, Kid Icarus even.

More than ten years ago means pre-1999. However, I'd venture to say it means *around* 1999. It says "the legacy began," not "the last game came out..."
Games like Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem are closer to more than 20 years ago. Sure, they're technically still right, but when it's that big of a difference, I would think they'd say it. I'd say this is probably something that came out around 1998-99-ish, probably made for N64.
The background of the picture could also mean something. I know a red gradiant bar on a black background doesn't mean much... but it almost looks very Smash Bros.-ish.
