ESRB Confirms FFIV: The After Years for Wii on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The ERSB Ratings board has confirmed a release of Final Fantasy mobile game The After on Wii.

Last week a patent was uncovered for "The After Years". Square Enix Europe had told us of the game's existence previously, and now it seems to be official with a listing on the ESRB ratings board for North America.

This is a 2D role-playing game in which players embark on an adventure involving magical crystals and a mysterious kingdom. Players traverse across a field map or through dungeons and can enter into turn-based battles along the way. Players use a menu screen to select attacks or magic spells against tiny enemies (e.g., leopards, birds, knights, fish monsters, etc.) that blink and disappear when defeated. An item called "Bacchus Wine" is occasionally used to defeat enemies in battle.

Artwork and character profiles can be found in the game's album below.

My only question is : Is it going to be released through episodic downloads, or as a full wiiware game from the start, and at which price point ? 1000 Wii Points would be the maximum i'd want to pay to play this game.

It'll most likely be episodic, and if so I'd be very hesitant to buy it for 1000 Points per episode, so I hope they put the Episodes at 500 or at least 800 if they're really greedy, especially since the Episodes seem quite short.

I'm not sure it would be sold as a whole game though... Would it? I don't even know if it's finished in Japan yet. I'd be willing to pay 1500 for the full game.

It finished in December last year in Japan, I believe. 12 or 13 eps...Each could go for 500-600 points, i reckon.

Maybe the Wiiware version will come in packages of 3 or 4 Episodes, that way we won't have 12/13 Channels clogging up our Wii Menu/SD Cards.

13 x 500 (roughly 5 euros)..; Holy sh**, that would make it even more expensive than a full retail game, if that was to be the case, i wouldn't go so far as buying, no, sorry.

Now, I'm really hoping for a maximum price point of 1500 Wii points for the whole game, otherwise, this would be ... like stealing Smilie ...

2000 points would be alright. £14 isn't too much if there's a decent length RPG in it.
