Virtual On and Sega Classics to Wii? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Sega's Mecha battle game Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram has been confirmed for digital release, with a possibility for Wii.

Oratorio Tangram is an arcade classic that was ported to Sega's Dreamcast back in 1999. According to Kotaku, it's returning as an Xbox Live[/url] download in April 2009 for 1,200 MS points.

Alongside Virtual On is ChuChu Rocket, Cosmic Smash, Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Shuffle and several others that could make up a catalogue of Dreamcast downloadables for fans and newcomers to enjoy.

So what about Wii? Vooks report that the Australian classifications board has rated the title as multiplatform, allowing for a slim but possible chance of an appearance on Wii. That said, Prope's Wii-exclusive "Let's Catch" is also listed as multiplatform, but here's hoping for some classic Dreamcast loving on Nintendo's motion machine.

I don\'t see DreamCast titles working effectively on Wii to be honest (downloadable that is).

But dayum! Looks like I\'ll finally be able to get Sonic Shuffle! Man that game is rare.

Yeah unless Nintendo brings a hard drive and a better (faster) download service, I can't see Dreamcast titles ever coming to the Wii - in fact it's impossible right now with the limited storage space on the Wii.

Then again, maybe Sega is looking to release it as a boxed product (Wii DVD format) and sell it in retailers.
But I doubt they would do that, because of all the added cost of packaging, DVD printing etc...

Chances are the 'multiplatform' thing is referring to a possible PSN download (along with the announced XBLA one). Or it could just refer to the original Arcade version and the XBLA one.
-But as I own both a 360 and Wii, this doesn't bother me too much Smilie

Good to see it available to download on XBL - The Wii itself can handle it, but I don't think Nintendo's download service can.

Possibly - maybe a "Dreamcast Hits" as a DVD compilation would be a good option.

I already have the original on Dreamcast, which is a good game and quite fun to play with a Joystick.

I would love this. Relive my Dreamcast days.

Dreamcast games couldnt be emulated, they would need to be recompiled for the Wii. (Even PC\'s have a tough time emulateing the DC).
So it would certainly be wiiware, not vc.

Theres actualy quite a few DC games that could be reworked to fit in vastely smaller space though... ChuChu Rocket, for instance.
Purhapes -some- others could be done as eppisodic things.
I dought it, but I wouldnt rule out the possibility completely.
