Nyko Weilds Third Party Wii Remote on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

As the Wii Remote has such a unique design, it was considered impossible for a third-party version, until now.

During the 2009 CES, peripheral genius Nyko revealed a handful of products including a Wii Remote clone known as the "wand". It follows pretty much identical format with a large "A" button and "B" trigger, a bizarrely shaped but fortunately larger D-pad and some odd extrusions in the corners. What makes it different is the use of "Trans-Port" - where compatible accessories in the future can send commands digitally, without the use of a mechanism (e.g. pushing the B-trigger).

The Wand is due out in April 2009.

We're very proud of winning this year's Best of CES in the Gaming category with the Wand and pleased with the warm welcome it has received with its debut. Nyko constantly strives to provide new products of significant value to consumers that will enhance the video game playing experience and recognition of the Wand for Best in Gaming is a testament to these continued efforts.

Doesn't look too bad, hopefully the buttons will feel alright - as for a pointer/waggle it should be fine.

Looks kinda funky. Do Nyko products come out in the UK? because all i've ever seen them in is IGN. Looks like it'll be more comfortable for some people to hold than the official one, but I wouldn't get one anyway(i'll never need to).

I want there new Wii Remote charger.

!!! xD Looks hilarious with all its oversized buttons Smilie

Shame it'll become obsolete soon with Wii Motion plus...unless their trans-port can fit motion+ into it?
