Klonoa: Door To Phantomile Set for US Release on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The latest edition of Nintendo Power has confirmed a Western release for the Klonoa remake for Wii.

The original was released back on the PlayStation 1, and has recently seen a complete revamp for Wii, including visuals and control. It was uncertain whether it would ever see a release outside Japan, but the official magazine in the US has set a localisation date for spring 2009.

In the preview, the magazine revealed some new tidbits - the original design will be kept the same, with a graphical overhaul. B button's used to grab enemies, thrown by flicking the remote (weirdly only for the US version). Players can also use GameCube and Classic controllers. The developer has been considering remaking Klonoa 2 and a possible sequel.

This looks really cool, i've been keeping an eye on it on gametrailers and they've definately put alot of time into remaking it.

The original was one of my first PS games. I have fond memories of the game, it was certainly fun platform fare and great to look at. If they ruin it by changing the main character I wont have anything to do with it.

I can still remember awesome apects like the music of the over world and the spiralling mine level. It was charming game.

What did Famitsu give this version?

I think they gave it 36/40, which is a briliant score Wikipedia.

Can't wait for this. Hopefully it'll be budget-priced, but I wouldn't mind too much if it isn't. Smilie

So they decided to keep the original design of Klonoa right? Thank goodness for that.

    Thanks.

The original scored in the 90% region, I know that because I would not have got it otherwise. Back then most games I got had to get 87+.

I've been looking for the sequel on the PS2 for freakin' ages so hopefully if enough people pick this up then the sequel will get a wii-release.

I am so pleased that this is being made on Wii because the last time I had played this game was on the PS1. Cant wait.
