New Blue Dragon Entry for DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Bandai Namco have announced a new entry in the Blue Dragon series for DS, Ikai no Kyojyuu.

As part of a collaboration between Mistwalker, Bird Studio and Bandai Namco, the game forms a new story in the world of Blue Dragon; where this time you won't be taking the role of Shuu.

Instead players will be conjuring up their own leads, much like Dragon Quest IX, using a full customisation system with visible equipment and weapon change. Shut and chums are still around; but it looks as if they may not be playable, initially anyway. Battles will take place in real-time, mapping commands onto a shortcut bar. Multiplayer is also supported.

The game is due for release in 2009.

This sounds much better than Blue Dragon Plus. I've had enough strategy to be honest.

    Cool!

Wow this sounds interesting. I wonder if you can design your own shadow as well.

Who's the brown haired kid? I know Shoe is the black haired on.

Never played the 360 edition, but the DS version has lots of similarities to the other Brownie Brown-developed strategy game, Heroes of Mana, which is definitely a good thing. I didn't get too far into it as I'd rather wait for the English-language version.

This should be VERY impressive, with Hideo Baba-san from the Tales Studio looking after it. He was involved in the brilliant Tales of Innocence (fan-translation coming in early 2009!), so I can't wait 8)
