Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Konami impress with nine blinding new screens!

Game Data

We played this excellent title at ECTS yesterday, and now we can bring you screens of just what we were getting so excited about. Enjoy!

Hands On
You all want to know it don't you, is it really here, well it is and it is bloody marvellous! We missed good old Solid Snake so much during his Nintendo absence, but now he is back and our thumbs are still trembling from giving him his first play test!

Graphics wise it is stunning. Everything has a great feeling of espionage and hidden evil plots to it. The draw distance is fantastic with some quite wonderful looking levels. You start off all alone, and slightly worried. You know there are guards all around you, but you don't want to move, eventually you have to, and bamn, four of them run in and knock you dead. Time to try again then...

Starting fresh, we managed to jump out and knock the buggers out cold, hiding them behind crates we slip quietly into the shadows. The first thing that strikes you is how good the character animation is. The guards really do go very limp when you knock you out, and Snake tip-toes about with great dexterity.

Moving on a bit it was clear that one major factor of this game is the AI of the guards, they are bloody intelligent! Instead of trying to take you on alone they will call for back-up and they will all come and attack you, nice that. They also try to corner you, making sure you have nowhere to go. It all makes for a rock hard, and very believable experience.

Whilst the version we played was only the first level, and at that not even the finished code it is clear that this game has a long way to go yet, but even in its basic shell it is clear to see that this will be a title to look out for.
