Tales of Hearts Unfolds into New Screens and Art

By Jorge Ba-oh 25.08.2008 7

A heap of artwork and screens have left Namco Bandai HQ detailing the forthcoming Tales entry for Nintendo DS, Tales of Hearts.

The game brings a refreshing visual style, 2D traditional sprites over some bold 3D background environments and artwork devised by veteran Japanese illustrator Mutsumi Inomata.

I love the art style in the Tales series and this is on par with all that we have seen before. Hopefully the game itself will review better than Vesperia has so far when it's released.

I really hope this one actually comes out in US at least >=[.

The guy looks a bit like Sora in a more mature style. I would get the Anime version over the CG version.

I dunno, I'm quite sick of all the anime-inspired characters recently. I'd like a refreshing change in a hero - that said, these CG artworks still look a lot like the CG FF designs in the day.

Still, looking good - definitely like the gameplay snips.

As far as I\'m concerned, the Tales series is one of the only ones I know that use high quality Anime cutscenes rather than the generally \"Done by every game ever\" CG FMV.

If I want an RPG with CG, I\'ll play Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. Smilie Tales is my Anime RPG fix. XD

EDIT: The Tales series does have some rather simple/dull/generic character designs, but I do like the art style.
