Mario RPG in 2004
Turn based antics once more.

Each region of Nintendo has a specific list of games to be released in the territory. Nintendo have added Paper Mario to their list of games to be launched in Europe in 2004. However, whether it will arrive in North America or Japan before of after the European release is currently unknown.

Paper Mario was a game in a similar style, in terms of graphics and gameplay, to the highly renowned Super Mario RPG previously released on the N64. Unlike the SNES RPG, Paper Mario did not sell as expected due to its late release on the Nintendo 64. The main element to Paper Mario was the roleplaying aspect that combined traditional gameplay from the previous version on the SNES with new gameplay mechanics based on the power of the Nintendo 64.

However, whether this game is a direct port of the Nintendo 64 classic, and it's button configuration redesigned, in a similar vein to the Legend of Zelda bonus disc, is unknown. The title could be a direct sequel to the Nintendo64 version, or a totally new RPG with Paper Mario only being a project title for a Mario game on a bigger scale. Regardless of the outcome, it would be excellent to see Nintendo working in a joint project with Square (Enix) as the 2 companies had previously done with the version on the SNES.

More information shall be posted as it breaks.
