Take-Two Neither Confirm Nor Deny GTA Wii

Publisher Take-Two recently discussed the possibility of handling a version of GTA for Wii.

The city munching action-fest has always been something Nintendo fans and the company themselves have hoped for. With the DS version on the way, Wii owners may have some chance of pumping lead. Last week Reggie praised Take Two/Rockstar's efforts with the portable version, effectively saying it's down to the pair if they wanted to work with Wii.

More recently, in an interview with GameDaily (via Kotaku), Take Two's Ben Feder commented on the always-hot question: "Will GTA head to Wii?"

I can't comment on it, but obviously we have one of the best selling third �party games on the Wii in Carnival Games from 2K Play, so we know the Wii pretty well.

We're building up assets to develop for the Wii and we're excited about its growth. I can't comment on GTA specifically on the Wii...

The question is: do Wii owners actually want GTA on Wii? I doubt Nintendo fans will take to the franchise with quite as much blind lust as 360/PS3 owners.

Hopefully if they do bring it over, they won't go overboard with the driving controls again. Those killed any chance I had of enjoying GTA4. Smilie

The driving was brilliant...I'm still playing it to this day just to drive around.

Nah, the driving was just too reminiscent or controls for the Racing Genre (i.e. Too realistic), one that I despise.

Can\'t speak for the rest of the game though.

That could easily be counted against many aspects of the game. There wasn't the same sense of humour, and what I felt was the game trying to take itself to seriously. I've never been a fan of the 3D GTA games, but out of all of them, I still think Vice City was the peak.

Well there's a quality check for them...

Nintendo fans will not blindly buy gta titles. There's lots of competition in quality enjoyable games, unlike the brown green cool games on the other consoles.

Result? They have to actually consider gameplay options. I really hope they can do a decent sandbox type game, but I will only buy it if it is good, and original, and fun.

Not just cool with trilineair buffering whoa and realistic handling whoa with loads of options whoa so now I don't know what way to play anyway whoa.

We'll see what they're gonna do.

Realism != fun.

Id rather they did a non-gta game personaly.
A new franchise...purhapes taking a few gta elements.

Of course Wii owners with any sense will want GTA on the system. It's a quality, top-tier franchise - why wouldn't it be wanted? Or would you rather have Carnival Games 2?

I loved the driving in GTA4 as well. And the game is one of the most colourful, beautiful 'realistic' titles on the market.

It's coming. It'll be ports of the old games though...don't count on a new ground-up version or ports of the PS3/360 versions.

Wii = Casual
GTA = Casual
Wii = GTA

Rockstar would be very silly not to.

SOME Nintendo fans might not buy it, but the casual will eat it up. Quality games? LMFAO, maybe from Nintendo but the rest of the games on wii are shite. The wii is crying out for a decent shooter (online would be a bonus).
Gameplay options? FFS it's GTA what options do you want?

Ya I agree they brought bully to wii (I don't know how different it was to the PS2 version though) so I can see us getting a PS2 port (which honestly be disappointed with, a GTA built specifically for the wii would be sweet).

Well, I know its coming, but i think its going to be built specifically for Wii, from the ground up. Just like the DS GTA game is being built ground up for the DS.

lol it was a reference to games generally trying to be cool with the latest technology that is somehow very very old.

gta4 is a very good game. It is just the trend to try and be cool by most 3rd parties that try a cool wii game that fails, which is something even taketwo might fall for.

Knighty, you really need to chill out. Telling people to \'Fuck off\' and calling them retards just isn\'t appropriate.

Anyhow, I think a GTA on Wii would be great to help further diversify the Wii lineup. I don\'t know if I\'d buy it, but it would be a good thing for the Wii.

It's just a personal view, try to not to get worked up at each other. Attack each other's points and ideas rather than the person themself for once. It'd make you all seem a lot more grown up.

Insulting a member directly is still strictly against the rules, even if Prodigy's tone was offensive.

1. I don't see the offensive tone.
2. It was the first post... how could I have aimed anything offensive at anyone?

Moving back on topic, I'd much prefer Rockstar to create a new Wii franchise than make a GTA game. A GTA game on Wii would instantly be compared with IV, so there will always be aspects that just can't hold up against the 360/PS3 game.

They're making LA Noire, so at least they realise there's more to gaming than Grand Theft Auto.

I can imagine them bringing San Andreas Stories to the Wii.

It would be easier than making a new game yet, as with Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, would have a new story, main character and missions etc.

I'd buy it.

I apologise if I appeared to generalise, and the situation is not exclusive to GTA. But lets face facts: it is a GTA game, and that's something that will cause large ammounts of people to make a day one purchase without considering their own real thoughts on what they would actually think of the game. It's the same story with MGS/Playstation owners and Zelda/Wii owners.

Personally I\'d rather them not bring GTA to wii, I mean GTA 4 apparently had a massive hype about it but TBH it wasnt necessary. I enjoy gta san andreas alot more then 4 its just not that great but hey thats my opinion.
