Wario Land Wii & Dragon Quest V Score High in Famitsu

By Adam Riley 16.07.2008 8

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed new review scores for two big new releases on Nintendo DS and Wii.

  • Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (NDS, Square Enix) - 9 / 9 / 9 / 9: 36/40
  • Wario Land: The Shake Dimension (Wii, Nintendo) - 8 / 8 / 7 / 8: 31/40
Whilst the high score for Dragon Quest is not unexpected, considering IGN's negative views on Wario Land it is definitely pleasing to see it achieving a more than adequate final score.

Wario Land will hit Western shores in September, whilst Dragon Quest V has only been confirmed as being translated, yet without a specific date as of yet.

Ahhh... my beloved DQ5. I loved that emotional journey of generations. I hope it won't take years for the western release.

I don't trust famitsu

Smilie why that?

Nintendogs getting 40/40 says it all.

Still, respectable review scores. DQ should be great!

They are not very objective, they will rate a game lower if its not their style.

And of course western games reviews never do that!

*thinks about above average scores handed out to every FPS game*

Almost no reviews are really "trustworthy" but Famitsu is one of the least trustworthy of the bunch. Anime games get high scores for being just that.

True enough. They (probably quite wisely if they want to stay in business) just tell the fans what they want to hear when it comes to big franchises (Zelda, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy).

But they tend to be a lot more trustworthy on odd games and things that are a bit different. I find that the big western review sites tend to shy away from these kind of things (especially in the case of 2D games).
