Wii Fit Customers Conned by Online Store?

By Jorge Ba-oh 20.06.2008 7

An online store has supposedly ripped off thousands of gamers anxious to break a sweat on Wii Fit this summer.

With an increasing shortage of Wii Fit packages across the United Kingdom punters have been scouring the web for offers: from eBay to European retailers.

Zavvi Direct, a website containing the name of popular high-street store Zavvi, recently claimed to have an abundance of stock, reports Computer Active. Those who purchased Wii Fit from Zavvi Direct were charged twice in some instances, yet none had received any signs of their shiny white scales. The site has since closed, with hope for those affected - claims that all purchases prior to being shut down will still be honored.

The actual Zavvi website was confused by the apparent scam: "We would love to know where this company is getting its stock of the Wii Fit from. In the UK and Europe it is in such high demand and short supply no one can get their hands on enough even us."

Have you been affected by retailers making false claims of stock and pricing issues for WIi Fit? Be sure to add your comments to our discussion forums below.

That's absolutely disgusting. I hope the dude behind the scam develops some sort of never-ending sore throat. Yeah.

Uhhh sore throat?, why not something more tourtorous like having no hands so he cant use the money he got...

Oh man that is terrible! I hope they find the bastard that did this scam...that's really quite disgusting.

It really is - especially given the price for the game, and the huge demand for it.

this reminds me of a scam about a year back where a site claimed to be able to get you the wii console in time for Christmas, did stupid things like charged twice, and never delivered actual consoles.

Sounds very very similar...

I think people should be a bit more careful where they buy their stuff from...

If people that deperate for excerise, why not go jogging for free?
