Renowned developer Giles Goddard has revealed his team is working hard on a WiiWare project for Nintendo. Speaking with Cubed³'s Adam Riley recently about Theta, his team's exclusive Nintendo DS title from late last year, Goddard mentioned that after Vitei completed work on the innovative water-themed puzzle game (that has unfortunately not been released in the West) development of a WiiWare game that makes use of the Balance Board began.
Whilst no actual in-game details can be revealed until Nintendo says so, it has been confirmed that it is indeed being published on the download service by the Kyoto Company, will be hitting Japan around September time and makes great use of the peripheral that has become so popular thanks to astronomical sales of the Wii Fit package. Below is an excerpt from the interview:
Cubed³'s Adam Riley: With Wii Fit taking Japan by storm at the moment and more Balance Boards now in Japanese homes than PlayStation 3 consoles, have you given any thought to creative ways your team could make use of the Wii peripheral in the future?Vitei's Giles Goddard: Our current game uses the Balance Board actually, and it's due out in September on WiiWare. So yes, much like Theta we came up with several prototypes of games and picked one that we thought was the most uniquely suited to the interface. The interesting thing is that the games you would think would work well with the Balance Board actually don't. So it should be interesting to see what kind of stuff gets made for it.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the full interview very soon, in which Goddard talks about the chances of seeing Theta on Wii, thoughts about a potential 1080 Snowboarding on WiiWare, working with Dylan Cuthbert of Q-Games (Starfox Command on DS) and much more...
