Mario Super Sluggers: New Details

By Jorge Ba-oh 18.05.2008 7

A recent edition of Famitsu has previewed the upcoming Wii version of Mario Baseball.

A translation via GoNintendo reveals the game has been built up on a new engine, instead of running off the previous GameCube version. There's a detailed story mode, seeing Mario and chums going at it again, spanning 9 unique arenas with unique gimmicks. For example in Yoshi Park, a Yoshi Train drives through the out field, Chomp Desert sees giant Chain Chomps litter the out field and in Smooth Ground Stadium the ground is far more slippery than usual.

Character wise, we've got special pitch and batting abilities, with Mario using his fireball tactics, Yoshi having an egg rainbow move and Bowser Jr. sending splodges of paint wherever the ball roams

That fact that it's running on a new engine is good. I was expecting them to be lazy and just use the old one + enhancements.

Yeah thats does normally happen. Game developers are being very lazy nowadays - Especially with the Wii & DS

Cool - sounds better than expected, though really isn't my type of game.

Loved the GC game. I don't like the reports that all fielding is done by shaking the Wii remote. I liked controlling my characters in the field. What could have been a must buy for me is going to become a wait-and-see game.

Could be worse

Awesome I'll definetly pick this up when its out, I did wanna get the one for gc just never really had a chance to but from what ive seen its looking good Smilie
