Been so long since I last did a blog. I read everyone elses and think "I'll do one soon" but then never get around to it. But am here now! Ever feel like events in your life are as unpredictable as a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors? One minute your winning then the next your not.
I recently met who I thought was the an amazing guy. We were dating and seeing each other almost every chance we got. 2 months later, after spending the entire Easter weekend together, he breaks up with me. At first he said he just wasn't ready for a relationship but I knew that was a load of bull.
I pressed further and found out he had been cheating on me and simply wanted to ditch me to go with this tramp he had picked up. I was devastated, confused and there was so much going through my head. I felt used, humiliated and angry. Turned out he was a slut and had bedded half of Manchester.
Two weeks have passed and I managed to kind of get revenge by revealing to his family that he had slept with his cousins fiancee. Plus I found someone new. I don't think we'll go anywhere but it's just nice to have that kind of company. Without it, I'd probably dwell on the twat for too long and lose all trust in men which I don't want as it'll ruin my future relationships. Am ok now though.
I Just needed to share that to help get it off my chest. There's lots to do this year and I don't want one degenerate ruining it all!
Game-wise, I recently bought myself a new slim Xbox 250GB to replace my ancient 20GB original. Has gotten me back into Xbox!! Halo Anniversary came with it. The first one is the only Halo I like so to have a prettier updated version is fine by me! Am loving it on co-op, really shows how well the gameplay has aged. Graphically it needed the boost as the original graphics haven't age too well.
My 3DS has seen a nice bit of activity with Resident Evil and great download titles like Colours3D and Sonic Triple Trouble. Can't wait for future titles like Kingdom Hearts and Luigi's Mansion! Then there is Pokemon White 2!!
Will be my birthday next Saturday 5th May which I'm looking forward to. May treat myself to Kid Icarus! But my birthay also marks the start of my weight training. I'm not happy with how skinny I am so my brother is helping me bulk up. Got the weights, the shakes and the routine planned for that week (am off work that week) so hopefully I can get into a proper routine and stick with it!
Right, I've said too much and shall shut up before I drag things out longer. Will start posting here on Cubed3 a bit more methinks as I've hardly done so this year.
Farewell for now!!
Today, when I wasn't playing Wii Sports Resort, I was at the Sheffield Arena where the new tour of Walking with Dinosaurs has just started up again.
And what an amazing show it was! I've always loved dinosaurs, so to see life-sized examples moving around and fighting one another was breath-taking.
It's amazing what they've been able to achieve with todays technology and were it not for the mechanics under each dinosaur being clearly visible, you could easily believe they were real with a little imagination. The show gets a definite recommendation from me!
Here's a pic I took of the T-Rex.
One minor problem I had was that the T-Rex didn't do a roar similar to the one used in Jurassic Park.
Here's a trailer for the show:
We've all recently noticed that the price of Nintendo points have increased a LOT at retailers (in the UK only I think), but thankfully, for those of us who buy Wii points directly off the console, the price remained the same at £7 per 1000 points.
However, I booted up my DSi and entered the DSi Shop Channel just to browse and see if there was any difference between buying Wii Points and DSi Points. The interface is pretty much the same but then you get to the part where you select the number of points you want.
1000 DSi points = £9
2000 DSi points = £18
3000 DSi points = £27 (£21 on Wii)
So, not only have Nintendo increased the RRP at retailers, they've also increased the price on the DSi shop channel to reflect this.
I asked Nintendo why and if this increase will soon be applied to the Wii Shop Channel also and got this response:
Customers may be aware that there is a slight price discrepancy
between the cost of buying Wii Points and Nintendo DSi points. The
reason for this small price difference is due to changes in exchange
rates which have been introduced since Wii points were first launched
and the launch of DSi points. We are continually assessing this
situation and will make any adjustments that we deem are necessary.
What this now means is that if the Wii was to be updated with the new price scheme, that a Mega Drive and SNES game would go from being £5.60 (an already extreme price) to £7.20. It's even higher than that for those who buy cards from retailers.
I'm not really sure what I hope to achieve from this blog but I guess it's just a way for me to vent my anger a little. I've defended Nintendo a lot in the past but this is just beyond belief. I've bought quite a lot of VC and WiiWare games like many have here and am looking forward to what DSiWare may bring. It's just a shame Nintendo like to grab any chance of a price increase.
I think I've found what will eventually be the death of me: Portal.
Part of the Orange Box for 360, Portal started off as a great game. The way the story is told is amazing and the levels are never boring. When the game ended, I wanted more. Then came the trials.
There are 3 types are trials:
Least Steps
Least Time
Least Portals
The steps and time trials are pure evil. A couple of them are okay but the rest are a nightmare leaving virtually no room for error and requiring 100% perfection to the point that it becomes ridiculous.
I'm mainly just writing to try and let off some of the anger I now have for the game and also to warn anyone else who has yet to experience such a joy.
Even my 360 has started to freeze when playing the game as I'm sure it shares some of the frustration with me.
The game is looking amazing both in gameplay and story.
Regarding Resident Evil 5. I'm not keen on what I've seen. It's too much like Resident Evil 4. Even the enemies look the same. ('cept more real :lol) I was expecting some crazy bad guys that sprint towards you but instead we've got slow moving villagers like Resi4. Will probably still be awesome although having to babysit someone yet again (when not in co-op mode) better not be frustrating. Last thing I need is her going 'help me' every 10 seconds.
Also Chris looks stupid all beefed up.
Clear Time: 14hrs 29mins
Level: 49
With that game completed, I have now finished the main quests in all 5 of my Wii games, 3 of which aren't really big games (Wii sports, Wii Play and WarioWare). Hopefully, Nintendo will actually release Super Paper Mario sometime this year.
P.S. I recently bought Shadow of the Colossus and am loving it. This is how a game should be made. Brilliant in every way.
I wasn't there at the time, it was my brother who was taking him for a walk. Patch was halfway across the field he runs about on when he saw a cat. Like he always does with cats, he chased after it. The cat then ran out and crossed a road with Patch following. Patch was then hit by a car. The cat got away.
It won't be known exactly what the damage is until tomorrow. He couldn't walk on one of his back legs but was strong enough to walk home to be taken to get some help. Hopefully it won't be long till he's fetching sticks and barking when someone knocks on the door again. Here's a cute picture of him.
Difficulty: Easy

Clear Time: 20hrs 40mins
Thank the lord for making the final boss extremely easy.
Judging from the wealth of healing items I had left over, I guess I could have afforded to lose more health instead of worrying I'll be left without health all the time. Also, I'm so happy that I get to keep all my items and weapons when I start again.
