The gamecube is now dying; I think that can be said fairly conclusively.

They're selling them here for less than the price of a new game.
It's damn sad people.
Damn sad
They've been doing this for months as far as I know.
I don't think it means their dying either, just that one store has reduced the price of the console.
Oh yeah, way to be a killjoy to the thread Karn.
No, its dying. reducing the price to get rid of stocks of the console.
How many new owners of the gamecube do you think there were over xmas? I doubt a significant number got one. Many members of the even this forum were buying an xbox.
Here they are still E99.
Remember Argos did this a while back, Argos just don't like the 'Cube, and then remember what happened last time. Sales went right up again. Supply and damand, and all that.
Its not dieing, only in a commercial sence - it still has the best games, arguably, and a really exciting line-up for 2005 - I don't call that dieing - I just call that "a lot of fools missing out". Don't worry.
Well those of you that bought a gamecube and buy cube games, you've made your contribution to keeping the cube alive, the rest was down to Nintendo, they screwed up, blame them. (and blame people who bought a PS2 because Driv3r was on it)
I only meant commercially, Beam. Though little to no developers are going to release games for a console which isn't available to buy anywhere. (like what happened with the N64)

The GameCube is not dying!
I'll admit it's a bit iffy in the UK (and could pretty much be classed as dying, but our market is largely idiots) - but look elsewhere in Europe, we are part of a region and the GameCube is fine elsewhere, places like Germany where it's ahead of XBOX along with France where the 'relaunch' was a massive hit with Tales!
Look to America, an important territory, even the xbox with such huge losses is failing to gain 'that' much of a lead 1.5 Million or something, maybe 2.
But the relaunch of the GC in America was big, I think it was 350,000 Platinum MK GC packs sold in 2 weeks!
Japan and the GC is far from dead, I'll admit it should really be doing better, but it's still alive and kicking strong - with plenty more life stil in it. Also enjoying a small surge in sales.
The GC is alive and well in Europe, America and Japan - not even close to dying
I bought mine for GTA, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Mercenaries, Tekken, blah blah. And before you say i'm a shallow casual gamer - I don't care, you play and buy what you like. And that's what I like.
And who bought a ps2 for know real reason? I doubt someone just went, and got one for the sheer thrill of spending

Playstation has a good line up of games. . .
Look, I have nothing against the Gamecube, I used to have one, but i'm fed up of people saying the playstation and/or xbox has a poor line up.
That is 'your' view, I disagree, and feel the ps2 has a wider and more impressive line up, however, that is 'my' view.
I bought a playstation 2 because I'd already bought a Gc and an X-box,
that was the only reason. ok, that and San Andreas,
Now it is the console I play the most, even though I KNOW that the X-box is more powerful and the gamecube was my first console of this generation.
The games they have on the Ps2 are more specialised to a wider audience, meaning that whilst GC games can cater to most audiences in one game encorporating alot of things, the Ps2 collection caters for every gamer by giving them something more suited to them, if that makes sense.
if not, then hey.

I'm gutted, my local store is out of stock would have been sweet having a second cube!
I would like to point out that Argos is most likely doing this to clear the old stock, making room for the new Platinum packs - hopefully
But still,
The PS2 does have the widest selection of games, no arguing with that. Beat'em ups, Dyntasty Warriors, decent realistic racers, Dyntasy Warriors, Omninusha and a little thing called GTA. Plus they got Jean Reno, who does the GC have? No really who?
