What is the battery life of the 3DS (and standard DS models, for that matter). Is it really that bad? Battery life is definitely high on my priority list when it comes to handhelds.

THANKS for that second picture. It's the first time I see the device attached to the 3DS.
It doesn't look as bad as I expected.
And it is said to double the battery life. Sounds great to me.

With a little screwdriver swapping between the two isn't much of a problem either, so if space is an issue such as having it in your pocket you could use the smaller battery, and keep this for loger journeys like flights and whatnot.

Still not sure why Nintendo just doesn't include a larger battery in the 3DS in the first place...
There is plenty of forums/articles/bloggers talking about how the battery life isn't long enough.

Last thing i bought that was Nyko was that hyped up wireless nunchuck. it never worked well and eventually just died on me. Not really going to trust them with something that can overheat and blow up myself.
Looks a bit ugly for my liking but if it doubles to battery life I'm all for it!

3-8 hours, how much you actually get depends on the nature of your usage. (Sleep Mode, 3D, Brightness, Volume etc)You'll get 16 at max (with low function use) with this device according to Nyko, but with full on 3D use I expect it wont be much over 10 hours in reality.
Nintendo have included an easy to use Docking Cradle to help you keep your machine juiced up.
I'm going to wait till the second generation of these batteries.
I never let my DSi get to the orange before I recharge it, so I am hoping I won't have any problems with the 3DS battery life.
I am guessing turning off wifi/wireless and turning down the screen brightness and sound to minimum would add at least a couple hours to the battery. I found the DSi screen bright enough and even too bright at night, so hopefully the minimum 3DS screen brightness will be a little dimmer.
