Petz can be good, has the potential to be but fails. EPIC.
I can only guess Nintendo must have done something really horrific to Ubisoft to get this kinda treatment.
I mean for f*ck sake, sorry to swear, but this is horrible in all ways;
"We are putting a sizeable chunk into TV ads given the current economic climate."
So, in order to make people buy sh*t they dont need you advertise more?!
I mean, really.
People pay for Entertainment to feel good.
If people are strapped for cash, you spending $4million *to make or improve absolutely nothing* and worse *to make people spend cash for little return* is horrible.
utterly utterly horrible.
The "economic climate" has come about precisely because so many companys, banks and people are obbessed with pushing money about rather then actualy making real products or adding value to things.
Its trading vapour.
And ubisoft games are pretty close to that vapour imho.
how about make a good game they sell they self then

I thought that, and it's usually good games that sell more(with exceptions to Zack & Wiki and Okami) but the developers don't make as much money as people think on these cheaply made games, they don't sell enough to make as much money as there games that show quality, so if they made a really good game and advertised it alot, they'd get more out of it.
Although raving rabbids is a decent (but not exactly great) set of games, they could make a proper Rayman, Where the Wii remote and Nunchuck are both fists, but then we can only dream of that.

Took the word out of my mouth.
But I must say I rather enjoy the Rabbids ads, they make me chuckle!
Keep going Ubisoft, go ahead, broadcast your developing-incompetence to the nation, everyone will soon see you for the Shovelware Developer you truly are.
I can see the expensive ads now.
"Crappy shit from Ubishite; only on Wii! "
Ubisoft is the gaming equilivent of spam mail.
I wouldnt really go that bad to call Ubisoft a shovelware developer. I do get annoyed with the amount of stupid petz games they have, but it sells! I personally think THQ are the worse for creating shit games personally.
Besides its good that their advertising their products, its becoming a harder place to compete in these days.
I guarentee Nintendo spend a shit load more on advertising to people that standing on one leg and stretching your arm out on a 70quid piece of plastic is good for you.
Ubisoft make some decent games...they just dont release them on Nintendo formats...
EDIT: LOL, i just saw a minute long advert on channel four with the redknapps stretching their legs, hedding balls, smashing and crashing...
As well as that shagadelic louise getting her tits out. phwoarrr
( Edited 13.11.2008 15:50 by Flynnie )Its not just the Pet games its EVERY game they release on the DS or Wii.
Good to bad ratio must be approaching 1:20 or even 1:30 now at least.
And thats being very generious with the word "good".
Ubisoft is the very diffinition of shovalware.
Come on, they have titles like "Petz Fashion" and "Babyz Genius" in the works.
The only reason they make a profit on their games is because they are so cheap to make to start with.
Its exactly like spam. You send a lot out because it dosnt cost you much.
It only takes a few idiots to bye the things to make it worthwhile. (probably mostly parents with soon to be very disapointed kids)
When was the last time you saw an Imagine or Petz game in the charts?
Honestly.

And Nintendo spends more on advertising yes, but they also spend more on making the games too.
