Ubisoft has announced that it will launch a new Wii exclusive party-games range under the "Play Zone" label.

"With our new Play Zone party titles, the Wii gamers who like to spend time with friends and family will have fun with the Wii through innovative and involving mini-games," said Ubisoft's EMEA Marketing Director John Parkes.

"The Play Zone label will provide them with the best games to mingle and compete together in a fun and friendly atmosphere."

The first game released under the Play Zone label will be Sports Party - a collection of 9 sports mini-games that can be played head-to-head or cooperatively on three levels of difficulty. The game will be released on July 11.

............ some one slap them! ppl want to know why only Big N game sell well on wii

3rd partys just dont get the wii

Correction: Nintendo fanboys don't get the Wii.

...3RD party games milk the wii due to its succes, and quick cash.
Also if its a rant about ubisoft, post it in the against ubisoft thread in the general gaming section (I think)

Even if they don't, is it a crime to want good games on a console that has the potential for them?

Ubisoft, how do you do it.

This is so true.

I bore of the pitiful 3rd party games on Wii, such is the reason as to why I havent played mine for nigh on 3 months. Not even GH3 can peak my interest enough, granted I do have it for 360 and spend most of my time trying to master the Velvet Revolver tracks on expert.

No chance of that.

No, you just fail to comprehend every bit of evidence that has been thrown out in these arguments and now you just resort to calling people fanboys just for wanting a decent game.

You can tell he put on the business hat when the person form Ubisoft made that quote, if you know what I mean.Smilie

I don't remember you ever posting 'evidence' to the contrary of what Graeme says. All I remember you doing is getting all uppity, and aggressively asserting that the Wii is not a casual gamer's console. Which it is, by the way. Don't give that "it's for everyone" rubbish. There's no such thing as 'jack off all trades, master of all trades'.

Martin speaks the truth, Wii is a casual system as much as it pains me to say it (casual console not that martin was right 8) ) I think its about time that all the Nintendo fans realised this. Whilst I am not denying their right to demand a good game every now and then, I think we've all seen the shite that has come out and that these good games are going to be few and far between with shite fillers like these in between which WILL become the norm on the system.

I'm sorry but that's bs. Me and GR last time this came up had a rather large and well reasoned debate that spanned a number of factors wider than just "LOL AT CAZUALZZZ".

I've posted supporting evidence, analysis, and incredibly comprehensive links that go even further to show what I've been talking about.

All I tend to get in return from some is insults, in this case dismissive personal attacks of labelling people fanboys. The only people I've seen any form of advanced argument from is probably Dojo and GR. Every time this comes up someone makes a sweeping generalisation, old ground gets recovered and the next time it comes up, nothing changes, I backed out for the last one because I'm a bit tired of arguing this against what now seems to be brick walls. Nothing against GR, he actually put up more comprehensive arguments other than "lolwiifanboys" an the debate furthered, but was blighted because I was so tired of debating it anymore, and how some just jumped on the back of his arguments without adding anything themselves.

I sort of remember that thread now, actually. Still, I also remember any evidence leaning heavily towards our point, and not yours. So Mario Galaxy sold over a million or whatever. That's a Mario game, which each and every single Nintendo fan who stuck with Ninty and bought a Wii would have gotten. Name a random hardcore game of no huge IP which has sold well on Wii. You can't.

Hilariously, you people seem to think you know the market better than Ubisoft do. You don't, lawl.

Seriously Modplan what makes you think you understand the market more? You're on a website full of Nintendo fans, largely without other consoles and you're doubting the research of a company like Ubisoft? Clearly that point can be fired right back at me, but I don't care because there's a lot more evidence to support my view than yours. Namely the fact that Ubisoft are RAKING IN THE MONEY.

Fair play for wanting better games, but unfortunately you chose the wrong console, dude. Wii is a casual console, it's aimed and marketed that way (very successfully, as we all know). You guys here, you hardcore-gaming, yet Wii-owning folks are sadly a minority. If all the casual gamers who played a bit of Wii decided "Hey, I might sign up to a Nintendo forum" C3 would die a death due to traffic. You lot on here are not representative.

Yeah I mean for fucks sake. If Nintendo themselves are advertising it as a casual console wtf do you want from third parties Ryan?

I love reading the various debates about 3rd party devs and other consoles on here. Its biased hell thats because this is a Nintendo site. But the level of some peoples ignorance towards matters involved in the games industry, especially in terms of the business side, is laughable.

First and foremost Ubisoft is a business that wants to make money, as such they have saw a golden opportunity with Wii, and anyone who knows anything about business will tell you that companies milk these opportunities until the market becomes soo stagnated that to milk it any more would besmirch the name of the company.

I will say that a little more quality wouldn't go amiss. That's as far as I'm going to put my neck out, though. Wii games will never have the quality of PS3/360 games. Casual gamers just don't give a toss about most of the things that mark a game to be a high-quality one. Graphics? Forget about it. They don't care. Which is why Wii is barely more powerful than the GC. But then, most of the games are just PS2-level, because developers know that casual punters don't give a fuck what it looks like. They only want something that's a bit of fun for half hour with the lads whilst necking some Carlings, before going out on the town.

You'll be lucky to get the odd good hardcore game once in a while. That's all you can expect, realistically.

I know not everyone can afford multiple consoles, but the 360 a little over 200 and the PS3 not much more I believe, why not just get one of them and stop worrying about all this shit on the Wii.

Why do most big developers go to the 360/PS3? Because that's where their market is. It's not just Ubisoft who are making this decision, it's every big developer out there. Sadly the same thing happened with the GC but with the GC we could count on an AAA Nintendo game every few months. The same hasn't happened with the Wii. Nintendo killed the N64 by being pricks to third parties, killed the GC because of the N64 and have now killed the Wii for third parties by removing the market that actually did exist on the GC.

I bet most of the people who own a 360 and Wii didn't own a GC and XBox a few years ago. If third parties can see that a large amount of their Wii market has both and the rest just has 360's then why would they bother developing on the Wii? It's like asking a company whether they'd make hardcore games for the Xbox or DS surely? Maybe the technology gap is bigger but it's not miles off.

There was no real reason, other than Xbox live but that wasnt for me at the time, to own more than one console in the last generation unless you were desperate to have every exclusive.

Now though with Wii being what it is, if you are a gamer then the games simply are not there in the amounts that are required to satisfy. That for me is the reason why multi-console has grown in the amount that it has.

Now I'm just becoming more and more disillusioned by Nintendo, it begs the question if they are so willing to show the door to the core gamer this generation, how long will it be before we abandon Nintendo completely. It wont be long before Nintendo turn into SEGA and I will weep a tear of pain when it happens.

I mostly agree. Although I have to admit that, I owned all the fifth and sixth generation consoles.

I'm not sure it's that simple, man. 200 is a lot of dosh for a console for most people. Most of the people here are kids, who rely on their folks for consoles. Most parents don't really like spending hundreds of pounds a pop on games consoles. A lot of parents can only just about afford to every few years or so. To people who fall into this category, they're pretty much stuck with the one they've got, which if it's a Wii, means they're fucked.

Why not consider an old PS2? You can get them pre-owned for peanuts. I don't have any of the current gen consoles, and I'm really not yearning for any of them. The games are cheap as chips, more amazing hardcore games than you shake a stick at, and the graphics are basically as good as Wii. It's no further really than from PS2 to GC. Not to mention that a PS2 is a required item in any proper gamer's collection.

I'd gladly sell my crappy Wii for a PS2 if I had to. Way better games, way better choice of games, prices = win (I've been buying PS2 games for like 2 of Play.com recently), and you won't regret it. The 'rents can't complain if they didn't have to pay for it, and you'll be happier. I reckon with Wii's being hard to get hold of, a Wii with a few games is sure to get bought for a couple hundred at least, with which you could buy a blinging little PS2 collection.

My stack of 23 PS2 games probably cost me 100 or so, at most. 100 would only get you two, maybe three Wii games. Fuck that shit!

My favourite developer producing my favourite type of game, brilliant. No doubt some clueless Wii owning parent is going to buy into it and make Ubisoft make more of this tripe.

I think I'll stick to Nintendo, Capcom and Sega for my Wii fix.

MadWorld...Nuff said!

See this is the problem the cost of consoles are stupid. I mean I only got my 360/Wii/PS3 because I bought them over periods of time and thanks to help from my parents. Hell I don\'t even see why I\'ve got them.
360 I\'m on all the time so yeah that was a good buy, but the PS3 was only played when for a while after release and then for short periods when GT5 came out and just now with MGS4, not a really good buy for the money that I paid for it. The Wii, well the Wii was all good at first a few good games and a few party games that me and friends could play. But it got to the stage where the good games just dried up and the gamer in me didn\'t want this casual heap of white shite. I only keep it in the hopes of an immense Zelda game but these hopes will probably be dashed soon enough

But yeah back to owning a PS2, its a really good idea for people who only own a Wii there are so many killer titles there and shouldn\'t be snifffed at by anyone who is disillusioned by the Wii.
