Well it is a bit of a bludgen, but I find it a bit perplexing as to why they have made such a decision. The fact of the matter is that whilst Eidos are a major company for other platforms they have not really ever looked at the GameCube with any real conviction, in fact they have mostly ignored the purple box from the Big N. Sure they published TS2, but nothing else springs to mind...not to me anyway.

The main part of my negative reaction to this is EA's continued dedication to the Nintendo cause, they have gone on the record saying Nintendo are a very exciting plans with ideas they are 'impressed' with and 'want to be a part of' so surely Iwata-san and Co. must be doing something right. Just like Acclaim had cold feet a few weeks ago it would appear that another financially 'on the edge' company cannot take the risk of suppoting a platform that they see to be, and I quote 'a declining' one. Ah well, your views? Smilie

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

As i said when the article was posted. This particular company doesn't really come as such a big blow to Nintendo, but if it is the begginning of a trend then we could be in trouble Smilie , however i doubt it is personally, Ninty are doing fine IMO ATM.

Edios - what do I think of them? Well, sad and pathetic - perhaps not Eidios as in a publisher, but the first party that works for them - Core, I think it was. Eidos think that exploiting the more feminine aspect of a woman into a game would sell their titles, and this I feel is wrong entirely.

However, for Nintendo - not a major loss. Eidos only published a few titles, if not less, on the GameCube - good? Nah, the company are so demographic in their approach that they still, unlike many new and old developers, consider the GameCube as a 'child's console' so there is a lack of publishing their so called boob infested "mature" games on the GC and GBA consoles respectively.

A major loss? No - far from it.

I think they have gone really downhill in the last couple of years, from producing some great games like Tomb Raider 1 & 2/Commandos too some really aweful games like Tomb Raider 6. But then again Hitman was pretty good and of course Timesplitters 2 which we can only hope get another Publisher for Timesplitters 3!

Currently playing: Resident Evil & Super Mario Sunshine!

Apart from TimeSplitters how many Eidos titles are there on the cube.

Eidos claiming to quit the cube is as pointless as RockStar claiming to quit the cube. Now if Capcom, Sega or EA quit the cube then we'd be screwed.

Eidos quitting is no biggie, they never attempted to make the cube a worthwhile investment and therefore got nothing out of it.

I'm actually pretty worried about Capcom, I mean excluding Viewtiful Joe and resident Evil one and Zero, what other titles have they made for the Cube? Some straight ports of Resident Evil 2 and 3 from Psone, and of course Resident Evil 4 which is another straight Port from the ps2!

I think that they may go back to Sony when their new console comes out!

Ah, I must have mis-read that from somewhere :embarrased2:

Is it possible you got Resi 4 mixed up with Resi Dead Aim the new Resi game they released for the PS2?

I thought Dead Phoenix had been canned.

Back to the original question...I say good riddance to bad rubbish Smilie If a company doesn't think they can get the best out of a console they aren't going to try to get the best and therefore their games will be subpar at best...As for Capcom, i think it is very refreshing to se how much they have supported the Cube especially with moving RE from the PSX...I only wish Square would do the same and come back to work with their original teammates to put out true Final Fantasy games Smilie

"You have forgotten the face of your father!"

The FF series has needed a proper revamp. In all honsety FFX is the worst FF sony exclusive game (I've own them all). The story is way to short and it's tedious. With each incarnation more emphasis has been put into summoned monsters and less into the rest of the game.

CC will be a breath of fresh air. Remember, everyon had their misgivings about Zelda on the cube and it ended up being one of the cube's best games. Same as Metroid, initially nobody like the First person perspective but they pulled it off and made a great game out of it (it'll never be as good as super metroid though).

My verdict on CC is still out though. I've heard a lot about 4-player but next to nothing on 1-3 player and I'm only now hearing about the magic system.

Sword of Mana though.....I want a mint cube Smilie

There loss IMO and yes CC does look like it's gonna bring FF home.
