I don't think it'll happen.
Bungie is a 2nd party to Microsoft isn't it? That would be like Sonic Team making a Sonic game exclusive for the N64 back in the day.

The problem is the DS is not an FPS console right? It's not an FPS handheld. There really is no such thing.
Is he serious?.. When you put a bit of effort in you could do an FPS on DS, easier than on say GBA or PSP. It won't look as good as on PSP, obviously, but still, it's quite possible >.>

The DS is great for FPS games. Touchscreen control is fast and precise. It would be neat if it happens, but if they turn it into a side-scroller than I'll probably ignore it.
Somebody should give them a copy of Metroid Prime Hunters. Not a great game but prove that with dedication, a good FPS can be made on DS in terms of graphics and control.
I doubt DS could handle a Halo FPS with appropriate AI levels and such. The ones we've seen recently have been quite impressive, but in the scheme of things, they don't really look or play any better than the old PSone Medal of Honor games.
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Touch the Dead
Brothers in Arms: War Stories
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Dementium: The Ward
C.O.R.E.
Bionicle Heroes
GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball Max'd DS
Metroid Prime Hunters AI was pretty good, as were its graphics. It obviously wouldn't be at XBox levels, but I think they could do a Halo game fine on the DS.
Dementium: The Ward is looking awesome! Like a first person Silent Hill game. Has Cubed3 even reported on the game at all?
A Halo DS wouldn't not have the AI or physics of the Xbox games but if done right, they could still turn out an amazing game.
I dunno, the cornerstone of the Halo experience is the AI really, and the way the battles flow. A DS game would just be a pale-imitation of Halo, frankly. Remember riding vehicles is also intrinsic to Halo. Could DS really manage all that?
A side-scroller.... what a disappointment.
I haven't played Brothers in Arms, but from what I have read, seen, and heard, it has a ton of action going on. Planes flying over head, tanks rolling by etc. I think the DS has enough horsepower to make a worthy Halo. As we've been saying, it wouldn't near XBox levels, but it could be a pretty darn good game in its own right.

Actually, thinking about it now, I think your right. I played Halo yesterday and a lot of what makes it great just wouldn't be possible on the DS. The soundtrack could be excellent though. I think they would have to create something unique rather than a regular FPS Halo title.
It's perfectly understandable that they wouldn't want to force a cranky FPS out.
"The problem is the DS is not an FPS console right? It's not an FPS handheld."
Fucking idiots.
The DS launched with Metroid Hunters Demo which proved it was a FANTASTIC hand held for FPS games.
Best controll mechcanism by far, and allthough it cant do state of the art graphics, it can do enough to emulate any gameplay you want.

Brothers in arms is a good game for the DS, it's just too easy and short. they could make a Halo game for DS but they'd have to use a 2GB game card and it'll still be far from the epic experiance everyone would expect. So I don't really think they will do a FPS on DS even though it can quite obviously do it.
meh you could make a handheld version of any FPS if you really wanted to.
Who actually wants a handheld version of Halo anyway.
Does MS not have a sort of gameboy ipodish thing called the Zune.
This thread is almost as embarrassing as the Bungie Vs Miyamoto: Nintendo fanboy community at its most retarded travesty.

Indeed. Peoples views here scare me sometimes. Have any of you even played Halo? Bungie churn out games with ridiculously high production values, and then people expect them to try and do that on the DS? Please. MPH looks decent but it was granier than a PS1 game.
Knighty, haven't we already established that it wouldn't be at XBox levels? I think its fairly obvious that the game wouldn't be as intensive as any of the XBox ones. All I am saying is that it could be done, and it probably could be pretty good if they worked within the limitations of the system.
But it wouldn't be as good as the XBox ones. So my question is why would they bother? Considering the Nintendo community is so vocal in its hate of Halo I'm surprised there's this much support for it. A company like Bungie is interested in producing epic games. I'm not saying the DS isn't good, but it'd be naff at handling an epic FPS. It just wouldn't work.

Money.
