Metroid 30th Anniversary | Top 25 Metroid Music Tracks

By Az Elias 15.08.2016 4

Metroid games are known for creating a feeling of isolation through their visuals and minimal use of characters besides Samus, but the soundtracks are also some of the biggest factors in being able to deliver this atmosphere, with some incredible ambient tones, catchy themes and powerful, fear-inducing tracks. As such, it's very difficult to narrow this list down to just 25, but here is a selection of some of our favourite music pieces in the Metroid series.

Kraid's Lair has always been my very favourite Metroid track. I especially like the Melee, version. It has a really nice flow to it for the first minute or so. In the live version it has this sort of wooshing wind sound that I really like. After that, when the drums and bass kick in it's like "YEEEEEAH!"

Skytown was my other favourite and I also love the title screen music from Prime 3.

Super Metroid's OST is a masterpiece, and overall the Metroid franchise has given us incredible songs.

Absolutely. Could easily just fill this whole list up with the full SM OST and be done with it. Back then, the whole game scared the crap out of me with its suspenseful and creepy music.

Kraid's Lair and Brinstar on Metroid 1 are great, and I used to love listening to the Surface of SR388 theme on my Game Boy. The Tallon 1 and 2 and Phendrana 1 and 2 themes in Prime are also some of my faves in the series.

Being a gamer that grew up on the NES, hearing how GOOD tracks like the NES title theme and Kraid's theme make me very intolerant of new games when music is bad or forgetable.

Just listen to how memorable and good the title theme is, or the tension in kraids.  THIS WAS 30 YEARS AGO.
