Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Desert Details on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

New details on the fan-favourite Old Desert map for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate have surfaced.

A staple area since the series' early inception, the Old Desert is primed to make a re-appearance in the new 3DS adventure. The game's official website, in Japanese, gives a detailed look at some of the changes this time round.

The dunes have increased depth across the landscape, with players being able to pounce on monsters from a height. There are places for shade/cover, however, with an oasis area to climb trees and for felynes to gather objects.

There'll be two modes as well, day and night. When the sun shines, hunters will need to be well equipped with cold drinks to sustain health. When it turns to night, however, hot drinks will be ideal to keep going. There'll also be different beasts to encounter as the moon hovers ahead, even some Feylnes hanging around a bonfire.
