Sonic is zipping onto the 3DS in two guises: classic and modern, and the first level was demonstrated during E3 this week.
Sonic Generations is the 20th Anniversary project for SEGA's most popular platforming series and the studio are celebrating with two versions: the home console version and an edition with unique levels/gameplay on Nintendo's portable.
As well as exclusive stages, the 3DS edition boasts side-scrolling gameplay for both classic and modern Sonic, and by the looks of things Modern Sonic shares a few mechanics with the ill-fated Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and aspects of Sonic Rush for DS.
E3 footage brings the opening Green Hill Zone in both flavours plus the boss sequence to wrap it all up in a checkered print SEGA package.
